To Judge Or To Love

Posted October 17th, 2010

People say things like “I won’t judge you.”

I have said that.

They say things like “Don’t judge!” in jest or in earnest.

But picture the times you’ve heard those or similar phrases. To “judge” means to judge negatively. You never hear someone trying to judge not, when it is a positive judgement.

Obviously, when you judge one thing as “bad,” it can only be by comparison to something better, so any judgement is both positive and negative. Assign admirability to one and contemptibility to another. Or just nod in agreement to someone who did.

Of course, “judging,” itself need not be “bad”.

It is neutral, but it is noteworthy. You have to judge things and people. You have to strive for the best, and turn away from anything and anyone that will hold you back.

For every thing or idea you grab onto, you let go of something else. For every “yes” there is a “no”, and for every “no” there is a “yes”.

The question is, what will you choose? Knowing that in this modern life you WILL be attached to one thing or the next, what will you decide to attach yourself to?

(I choose Love.)

We would love it if you shared your thoughts:
